18-Year-Old Dies in Single-Car Crash in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. — Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Watertown resident on Saturday evening in the Town of Shields.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were called to the scene at approximately 6:28 p.m. on September 6, 2025, near County Road Q and Pit Road, following reports of a serious crash. When first responders arrived, they found a severely damaged car that had veered off the road and into a wooded area.

Investigators say the vehicle, a 2006 Acura sedan, had been traveling northbound on County Road Q when the driver lost control. The car left the roadway, struck multiple trees, and came to rest about 50 yards into the woods.

Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed the victim was from Watertown but have not released their identity, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash drew a large response from local agencies, including the City of Watertown Fire and EMS, the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team, the Dodge County Chaplains, and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team (DCERT). These teams provided medical assistance, conducted an on-scene investigation, and offered support to the grieving family and community.

At this time, investigators have not determined whether speed, roadway conditions, or other factors contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected.

Residents of the area say rural roads in Dodge County have long been the site of serious accidents, and officials stressed the importance of caution, particularly for young drivers.
