13 Shot, 2 Killed in Robeson County Halloween Party Mass Shooting

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — A Halloween celebration turned deadly early Saturday, October 25, 2025, when gunfire erupted during a large outdoor party on Dixon Drive near McGirt Gin Road in Maxton, leaving two people dead and 11 others wounded.

Deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of loud music around 1:15 a.m., but before their arrival, multiple 911 calls came in reporting a mass shooting. When officers arrived, they found Jessie Locklear Jr., 49, and Nehemiah Locklear, 16, both of Lumberton, dead at the scene.

The gathering — promoted on social media as the “Dirt Road Halloween Party” with the tagline “Ain’t no party like the dirt road party” — drew an estimated 150 attendees. Authorities said the event featured alcohol and firearms, creating a volatile environment that quickly turned tragic.

Among those injured were victims ranging in age from 17 to 43, including Nicole Harris (18), Trevor Jacobs (18), Tylon Locklear (20), and Delilah Locklear (43). Several remain hospitalized in critical condition, while others have been treated and released.

Sheriff Burnis Wilkins condemned the shooting, calling it “a senseless act of gun violence” involving teens, alcohol, and weapons. He vowed that those responsible would be held accountable.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Homicide Division is leading the investigation, assisted by ALE, ATF, and local law enforcement.
